EYFS

Holi

Reception joined in with the Hindu Celebration of Holi. They threw powder Paints around outside.

Holi- Coloured Powder Paints

As part of the Hindu Holi festival they throw coloured powder around to celebrate colour, love and spring. Nursery 2s threw powder around outside, we were all covered in bright colours, it was lots of fun. We then put water on the powder and used the sweeping brushes to mix the different coloured powders together.

Shrove Tuesday

Nursery 3s enjoyed learning about and celebrating Pancake Day! They have talked about why people celebrate pancake day and what Lent is. Then the children made their own pancakes. They mixed the ingredients together and then enjoyed eating them with their favourite topping!

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Nursery 3's helped to decorate the classroom Christmas Tree. They talked about the story of Christmas as they did so!

Celebrating Diwali

Nursery 3s have loved celebrating Diwali! They have read lots of stories about the Hindu festival of light and engaged in a range of activities. These have included creating their own Rangoli patterns, making diva lamps and Diwali necklaces. The children have explored our Diwali themed curiosity cube, using vocabulary linked to Diwali and have enjoyed dressing up and pretending to celebrate in the role play area!

Diwa Lamps for Diwali

Reception made some salt dough Diwa Lamp, we used words like roll, push and press to create our lamps. We also discussed how Hindus will put these into the lamps and light them to celebrate Diwali, the festival of light. 

Diwali Curiosity Cube

The Nursery 3s children have enjoyed exploring our Diwali themed curiosity cube over the week. They have talked about the different items they can see, the colours and the pictures. The children have asked questions about unfamiliar items and have been introduced to new vocabulary! 

Easter

Nursery 3's have been learning all about Easter! They have listened to the Easter story, created their own decorations and cards, explored a sensory Easter tray, and created Easter nest cakes. During muddy Monday's the children noticed the Easter bunny had left them some chocolate during an egg hunt! 

Chinese New Year

In reception we celebrated Chinese New Year. We read a book all about Chinese New Year and watched some really interesting videos of how it is celebrated across the world. We also had a go at writing Chinese numbers and made some lanterns and some dragons.

Shrove Tuesday

Reception have been celebrating Pancake day. The children learned all about what ‘Shrove Tuesday’ is and took part in a range of activities which included making and eating their very own pancake!

Pancake Day Play

Nursery 3's enjoyed exploring the Pancake Day tuff tray. Throughout we talked about Ash Tuesday, Shrove Wednesday and Lent! 

Chinese New Year

Nursery 3s have enjoyed learning about Chinese New Year. The have watched videos on preparing and celebrating Chinese New Year and read some stories which are linked. Some children have explored our curiosity corner and engaged in role play based on their learning throughout the week. The children have also made dragon paintings, Chinese lanterns, tried Chinese food, used symbols in their mark making activities and more! 

Early Years Nativity

This year our Early Years children performed 'is there a baby in there?' for their Nativity. We are so proud of them all! 

Christmas

Nursery 3s have been very excited about beginning our Christmas celebrations. They kicked things off by helping to decorate our class Christmas tree!

Diwali

 Reception have been learning about Diwali. We talked about it being a religious festival called 'The celebration of light.' We made our own diwa lamps and looked at rangoli patterns. We also learnt about the Rama and Sita story, where Rama rescues Sita from the evil Ravana and diwa lamps were used to light the way home for Rama and Sita. 

Diwali

Nursery 3's enjoyed celebrating Diwali with a range of different activities. After reading about Diwali the children created their own Rangoli patterns, diva lamps and Diwali necklaces!

Diyah Lamps

Nursery 2s made diyah lamps out of salt dough to celebrate Diwali. We then painted them and added glitter to make them colourful.

Diwali

 In Nursery 2s, we have been reading the story of Diwali and talking about what we can see in our curiosity cube.
