Easter Egg hunt

Nursery 2s went on an Easter hunt to see if the Easter bunny had been and left some chocolate eggs. They searched the pirate ship, trees and tyres. Each child found an egg and placed it in the basket. We then counted all of eggs together and found that there were enough eggs for the amount of children there was. Myself and Miss Hardon were a little upset that the Easter bunny had not left us one.

Stocks Wood

Reception have had an amazing time on our trip, the day began with us exploring the wood and learning about our surroundings. We had a play in the playground before toasting some marshmallows around the fire. We then drank hot chocolate and listened to a story. Next, Jay taught us how to make tiny fires using flint. We finished the day off by doing some pond dipping and learning about the life cycle of a frog. Well done Reception, you were a credit to our school!

Chinese Food

Reception tried some Chinese food this afternoon to finish off our celebrations of Chinese New Year; they tried noodles, rice, sweet and sour sauce and prawn crackers. Well done Reception for being open to trying new foods!

Muddy Mondays

We started our session off by talking about what the weather has been like today. Reception talked about how we know spring is on its way, we had a walk around the grounds and discussed the evidence we had found. We then had a little break and snack of warm Vimto and a Biscuit. After this, we headed up onto the mushrooms, where we created our very own clay friends using natural resources which were around us. The children were then given the task to name their new friend. I’m sure you will agree they done a fabulous job, please reinforce their learning by asking your child the materials they had used and what their new friend’s name was.

Muddy Mondays

Reception enjoyed exploring nature during muddy Monday’s yesterday. They collected natural materials and created art with these materials, such as butterflies, giraffes and houses. The children then used sticks to represent their own names.

Bird Feeders

Nursery 2s have been making bird feeders as part of the Big Garden Birdwatch. We took them up to the school field and hung them in the trees. We will go back up to the school field this week to see if the birds have enjoyed their yummy seeds.

Muddy Mondays

Today was a very wet Muddy Mondays for Reception. We started off with making sure we were completely protected from the rain, wearing the correct clothing. We went outside and talked about the weather, we decided to create a den to keep us dry from the rain. After many attempts the wind and rain got the better of us and our den did not stay up. We went inside and had warm Vimto and a Biscuit to warm us up. We then talked about how the rain has made us feel, the children said things like “ happy, cold and muddy”. This then led to the children decorating heir own Umbrella to create a rain picture next week. ☔️

Muddy Mondays

Muddy Mondays this week was a very windy one! The children used their observational skills to find out what damage the wind has caused. The children collected all of the broken twigs from the trees and placed them in the fire pit ready for Mr Irving to burn. We also talked about what wind is good for, Well Done Georgia for knowing, wind is good for energy. The children laid on the ground and used some of their senses, sight, touch and taste. We then went back inside and made some more Bird feeders in the Coconut Shells.

Ice Hunt

Nursery 2s went on a Ice hunt around the yard. We talked about why there is ice and what it feels like. We noticed that things like leaves and shells were frozen inside the ice. The children were very focused and interested. We decided to do an experiment, we left it in the sun to see what happens later on in the day. During the afternoon the Children remembered that we need to go and check the ice. Some of them wanted to take the Babies outside to have a look too. We were very surprised to find the ice was still there! Therefore we broke it apart and talked about how to stay safe when touching ice.

Muddy Mondays- Bird Feeders

Due to the weather, we decided to run our session indoors. We talked about our feeders we made last week and how the birds have been enjoying our feeders. We decided to make some larger ones within the classroom. Once these have set we will find a suitable place to hang them.
