Counting Game

Nursery 3's had to roll the dice and collect the matching number of objects.
The children were patient and waited their turn,
Together they counted in sequence and practiced subitizing the dots on the dice.
We talked about how many more objects we needed from the box.

Colour Sorting

Following the topic of Holi, the festival of colour and Spring, the Nursery 3's children enjoyed using the parachute and cones to colour sort the compare bears and animals. The children were able to independently identify each colour and match it with the colours on the parachute. The children showed skills in their team work and were able to share the bears and work together.

Superworm Measuring

Whilst focusing on Julia Donaldson stories Nursery 3's read ‘Superworm’ - the children really enjoyed this one! After reading the story they created our own superworms with playdough. The children used vocabulary such as “big” “small” “longest” “shorter” when talking about and comparing their worms. They were encouraged to measure their worms using cubes, tape measures and rulers!

Gruffalo Crumble

The Nursery 3's children enjoyed reading different Julia Donaldson stories throughout the week leading up to world book day. Counting Pom Poms

Nursery 3s developed their fine motor skills by using the tweezers and pegs to count out pom poms on to the numicon. This helped to develop their fine motor skills, as well as one to one correspondence and counting in rote.

Number Bingo

During World Nursery Rhyme week Nursery 3s learned the rhyme 'BINGO.' The children then enjoyed a game of number bingo. The children were able to subitize some numbers to three and find the correct matching numeral!

Numbers to 5

After singing 'one, two, three, four, five, once I caught a fish alive' during world Nursery Rhyme Week the Nursery 3's children focused on numbers to five. The children identified each number on the fish, then counted out the correct amount of 'fish eggs.' Some of the children were able to subitise the eggs to three!

World Nursery Rhyme Week
