World Book Day

For World Book Day we welcomed Taffy Thomas into school. Taffy is a story teller from Grasmere and the patron of The Society of Storytelling. The children throughly enjoyed their workshops, hearing a range a wonderful tales.

The Bear Under the Stairs

Throughout this unit we looked closely at bears and all the different stories we knew about bears. Whilst exploring all these stories we discussed all the facts we had learnt about bears and which were facts and which were fiction. To end our unit the children produced a two-page spread around bears 🐻.

William Wordsworth

During this topic Year 2 visit Grasmere. We talk about what life was like 200 years ago, including looking at a range of objects from the past and discussing their function. Next we visit Dove Cottage, the home of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. Throughout the day we learn about William and Dorothy’s love for the outdoors and nature.

Climate Change

During this unit we discuss the impact climate change is having on the world and what we can do to help protect the world. Leading on from this we then create posters promoting recycling and demonstrating how we can help. Also, the children use persuasive writing to write information leaflets about recycling.
