World Nursery Rhyme Week

Nursery 3's have celebrated World Nursery Rhyme Week by concentrating on different rhymes each day. On Monday they sang Jack and Jill in the water tray, filling and emptying buckets.  On Tuesday the children drew their own clocks for Hickory, Dickory dock and practiced their counting. Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes was the rhyme for Wednesday and the children enjoyed doing this really slowly and really quickly. On Thursday the children created their own boats for Row, Row, Row Your Boat, then tested them out in the water tray. On Friday the children sang Wheels On The Bus while sitting on our community bus! Here at Richmond Hill we value nursery rhymes and know that they hold so many benefits for our children!

Black History month - Music

As October is Black History Month, Reception have been exploring the different African instruments, listening to the sound and making music with the instruments.

African Musical Instruments

As part of Black history month Nursery 2s have been exploring the African musical instruments and creating music. We also listened to some African music and the children played along with the instruments and danced. They all had lots of fun.

Music Maker

On nursery 3's muddy Mondays session we made music 🎵🎶
We searched the garden area to find natural materials which would make different sounds. The children found sticks, stones, leaves and flowers.
The children explored their findings to see what kind of different noises they would make.
As we explored, we sang nursery rhymes and the children choose different ways to sing and make music, choosing from: fast, slow, quiet and loud. They all had so much fun.

Bollywood Dancing

Nursery 3's decided to join in with some Bollywood dancing when learning about Holi. They watched the movements on the video before doing the themselves, as well as creating their own movements to the music.

Musical Instruments

Nursery 2s have been having so much fun exploring diffrent musical instruments.

Music Wall

Nursery 3's experimented with creating different sounds on the outdoor music wall. They tapped gently to make it quiet and hard to make loud noises, discussing what they were doing as they did so.
