Black History Month 2023
During October Year 1 celebrated Black History Month. We looked at the American artist Alma Thomas. Alma’s paintings became so popular that many art galleries displayed her art. Some of her paintings were displayed in museums across USA. One of her famous pieces of work was called ‘Springtime in Washington’ Year 1 had a go at recreating this piece of art. The final pieces were amazing 🤩
Toys from the past
Year 1 observe the changes in living memory when looking at toys from the past and present. Through playing with artefacts and interviewing our parents, the children are able to compare some of the ways in which we find out about the past.
