Remembrance Day

The Nursery 3's children enjoyed learning about Remembrance Day. We talked about what the colours represented and why we celebrate it. The children enjoyed gluing and sticking to create their own poppy pictures. As they created their pictures they discussed the war, using then and now language.

Remembrance Day

Reception talked about what Remembrance was and how we wear poppies to remember and show respect to the soldiers who were injured or died in wars. We also watched some of the Remembrance Parade from last year. The children noticed the poppy wreaths that were being placed near the monument, so we made one together as a class to hang near our curiosity cube. Reception also created their own Poppy using their hand prints. Reception also observed the 2 minute silence and shared that during the silence they thought of ‘soldiers’, ‘the animals that were hurt’ and ‘that we are safe’.

Remembrance Day

To celebrate Remembrance Day, Nursery 2s took part in different activities to mark the occasion. We made Poppies out of play dough, printed poppies using Apples and paint. There was also a small world set up with army figures and vehicles. Throughout the day we talked to the children about Remembrance day.

Bonfire Night

Nursery 3s have been learning all about Bonfire Night! They have read stories about what Bonfire Night is and why it is celebrated today. During muddy Monday's the children had their own Bonfire. They talked about Guy Fawkes and fireworks, then roasted marshmallows to enjoy!

Kings Coronation

To celebrate the Kings Coronation, Nursery 2s have been very busy doing lots of diffrent activities such as, Building towers, dressed up as he King, Reading the story and even decorating biscuits. We ended the week with a little tea party which we really enjoyed. We waved our coronation ribbon sticks and celebrated the King.

Bonfire Night and Remembrance Day

Here are some pictures to show what we have being doing in reception over the past few weeks to celebrate Bonfire night and Remembrance Day.

Remembrance Day

During our week of Rememberance, Nursery 2s have read the Poppy day story, made Apple print poppies, Collaged Poppies and Decorated Poppy Biscuits. We also played with army tanks and soldiers in the construction area.

Remembrance Day

Nursery 3's learned about Remembrance day by reading both fiction and non-fiction stories, as well as educational videos. Throughout the week the children then created their own poppies using different craft techniques and baking!

Black History Month

For black history month in Nursery 2s, we have been painting our hands with different skin coloured paints. We have made these into a collage for our display. We have also been reading the little people, big dreams story of Rosa Parks who was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott.

Black History Month

Nursery 3s celebrated Black History Month by reading the Little People, Big Dreams book about Martin Luther King Jr. They then discussed their own dreams and added these to dream clouds, which were decorated with glitter and sequins!
