What is it like here?

In Year 1, as part of our geography ‘Where in the world are we?’ we started our unit by exploring Aspatria. Before we set off we used google earth to look at Aspatria in more detail. We then made a checklist of places we were going to visit on our walk. The children were very well behaved and loved exploring the town.

Year 1 explore the town they live in. The children learn to depict the features of Apsatria using photographs from our fieldwork and by recreating maps. They visit the Post box sending letters to their home address.

The children enjoying the traditions of China and other countries when identifying characteristics of seven countries and capital cities of each continent around the world.

Year 1 learn to compare similarities and differences through studying the human and physical geography in each of the seven continents.
