Baby Bear’s chair

In the unit we explored the concept and the features of structures and the stability of different shapes. We then went on to discuss that the shape of the structure affects it’s strength. Finally we made a structure according to our design criteria and then evaluated it’s strength, stiffness and stability.

Making a moving monster

Within this unit we looked at a range of objects and discussed how they move. We then went on to explore different design options before making a moving monster.

Fairground Wheels

In the DT unit the children explored wheel mechanisms and then went on to design their own Ferris wheel. They then have to choose the appropriate materials, before starting to build their final product. To end this unit to children had to evaluate their rotating wheel. This unit was very challenging and the children showed determination and perseverance.

Christmas Pouches

The children designed and made a Christmas pouch. The children selected the fabric and cut out their templates. Then using a running stitch the children joined their fabrics together. To decorate their pouches the children designed a Christmas themed image, they then attached their decoration using glue.

A balanced diet

The children used their senses to investigate a range of ingredients, including discussing the different food groups. The children then designed their own healthy wrap, their final wrap had to include a protein, a dairy product and a fruit or vegetable. Here are the final proucts.

Vehicles

Pupils explore a range a vehicles looking at the different features and purposes. Using this children then design and construct their own vehicle ensuring it has a chassis, axle and wheels.
