Year 4

Drawing-Power Prints

In our drawing unit we learn about how to create a sense of proportion in our art work.  We also look at how we can use a variety of pencils to create different tones and textures.  We explore how interesting compositions can be achieved through collage.  We conclude this unit by using crayon and water colour to create a wax-resist picture.

Painting and Mixed Media

Year 4 develop their skills at mixing paint colours, focusing on tints and shades.  Pupils enjoy discovering how 3D effects can be created through careful application of colour.

3D Art Forms

In the Spring term, Year 4 explore 3 dimensional art forms.  We look at work by Barbra Hepworth and Sokari Douglas-Camp; using their work to create our own sculptures.
