Year 5
Year 5 attend educational visits to help support our learning in the classroom.
Stockswood
Year 5 visit Stockswood Outdoor Centre to spend a day involved in forest school. During the day, the children take part in activities to extend their learning around lifecycles. They learn about the life cycle of a plant and its reproduction. They even have a chance to dissect a daffodil.
Church Visit
Year 5 visit the local church to learn more about our RE topic 'What makes a place significant'?. They explore the churchyard, looking for any symbols that they recognise before discussing with Matt, the Vicar, about what makes St Kentigerns significant.
Sale Fell
Each class explores more of our locality by walking a fell. The children use determination and resilience to complete Sale Fell in Year 5.
The Life Centre - Newcastle
In the spring term, Year 5 look at answering the question 'Is there anything out there?' To help them answer that question, they visit The Life Centre, where they learn more about what happens to astronauts in space, how space affects us on earth and how the constellations came to be.
Allonby Beach Visit
In art, Year 5 learn about Installation Art. Throughout this topic the children discover what Installation Art is, create a small-scale piece of Installation Art and discuss the effect on the viewer. To finish this topic, they create a piece of Installation Art on the beach, using rocks and shells.
