Year 4

In Year 4, children get the opportunity to do lots of outdoor-based learning which links to our curriculum. 

Allonby Beach 

To help inspire Year 4 with their creative writing, we visit Allonby Beach.  Whilst there, the children do a scavenger hunt, create beach art and look at some of the locations local artist, Percy Kelly, used as inspiration for his paintings.  

Anglo - Saxon and Viking Day

Pupils take part in a variety of hands-on experiences to help them understand how the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings changed the shape of the British Isles.  

Blue Dial Farm and Allonby

Whilst at Blue Dial Farm, pupils get to do a tour of the milking sheds.  They learn about how machinery helps with the milking.  Pupils also get to visit the calves and learn about how they are reared.  

St Kentigern's Church, Aspatria

Year 4 get to visit our local church to discover more about the symbolism which can be found in the church.

Stockswood

Year 4 enjoy a day of forest-based learning.  They get to participate in activities including: fire lighting, pond dipping, den building and adventure play.  The children also use the leaves and flowers of the forest to create pieces of art inspired by the artist William Morris.  


The Howk

Year 4 get to explore the old Victorian bobbin mill which sits on the bank of the river.  They also look at the features of the river and explore its different uses.
